Day 6 Jerusalem (30.12.2013)

A day for the soul, the mind and all senses.

Special Thanks to Na`ama, for a wonderful day in an amazing city. For so many informations and moving the minds. And also a thanks to Marcus, because I know it`s hard to control a group of children and on that day, in that big city it was a very hard job.

Jerusalem isn`t a city which you look only in one day, but Naomi and Marcus had brought the best out of that short trip. They led us to places which have a magical charakter for some people and just touch all the senses.

At first we drove about steep sloves and curvy landscape up more and more.

To a Holocaust memorial. A museeum that commemorating the people who lost there lives. We could feel that this place is a special one for Naomi and she was taken of so much feelings. She led us through the museeum and her words was an overwhelming mood. Touching, thought-provoking, Impressive, … There was so much emotion in the air.

This rather intriguing moment, we will keep in us.

In this journey it`s not just about Krav Maga alone. It shows us a country, that is filled up with life and multi-faceted. Prejudices will be dispelled and a bond to the country of origin of Krav Maga and his emergence, sharpen the mind.

On a market in Jerusalem we split in smaller groups for searching something, what we want to eat. My group want something typical Israeli … So we tried Shuarma. (I hope it`s spelled correctly)

A taste experience!

For those, who don`t know what`s Shuarma. It`s like a Dürüm Döner – only 100 times better! The bread is tender, baked in a stone open, the meat (chicken) is juicy and all the remainding side dishes are fresh. Just insanely delicious.

Our trip took us further now.

We walked through the narrow streets of the old town. It`s felt like an oriental market. Everywhere hung shawls and scarves. Everything shone in silver and gold and so many stands with souvenirs. Everything full of color. A big selection of variety smells of spices, incense and sweets was mixed in the trouble of the people. It was loud and movement everywhere, like an anthill.

We arrived the tomb of jesus, just then when a Muizin prayer called.

There were so many things that fed on us and all tried to soak it, even if some of us not believe in things like that. This was our moment to calm down and listen to themselves, in a place where it`s loud and full of hustle and bustle.

The day nearly comes to an end. It started to get dark. But we still had one wish. During our tour in the bus, many of us wrote our hopes, dreams or wishes on a little piece of paper. Now we want go to the western wall and stick these signs in the cracks of the wall, with the thought that they meet up or just to know that we was here, real.

I leaned my head against the wall and felt the cold stone on my forehead. For a short moment I just forgot all the worries. I`m not really believe, but even if you can only act on it, you`re taken and will never forget it again.

So many emotions in one day, so many images in my head, so many impressions that I will carry in me.

Jerusalem – a magical city, if you allow it.
